In the 21st century, movie titles are very concrete and literal; you know exactly what you’re getting into.

There are no surprises. NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM takes place at  a museum, and it’s at night.

TRANSIT bucks this trend. There are 32 movies named ‘Transit’, two of which come out this year.

Jim Caviezel, the pride of Mt. Vernon, WA. Which says more about Mt. Vernon, then it does about Jim. In a recent interview, he said he is tired of being typecasted as Jesus.

TRANSIT is just one enormous cliché.  It's a film that is unapologetically bad, and enjoyable; all at the same time.

A gang of thieves robbed an armored car. At a truck stop, they place stolen money the trunk of an unsuspecting family. These criminals are just smart enough to pull a complex heist, but that is it.

  1. The getaway car is painted poorly with black primer.
  2. The ring leader is not a very convincing bad guy.
  3. This group looks incredibly suspicious (demeanor and appearance).
  4. The ring leader’s old lady didn’t contribute to heist, yet she gets an equal cut.

These are not professional criminals, they are violent, inept thugs, lacking in forethought.

Key Characters

Robyn (Röhm): Nate’s wife, that's all I know about her. She has blonde hair and two kids.

  • “What’s wrong with you?
  • “I am leaving you here.”
  • "I want to go home, what part of that don’t you understand?"

Nate (Caviezel): Arrested for reckless driving, which violates his parole. On the outside, he looks like a youth group leader/soccer coach. But don’t be deceived, he just finished an 18 months stint ‘club fed’ for real estate fraud. His family seems indifferent to his presence.

  • “If nobody wants to try to reconnect here, were just wasting time…time and gas.”
  • "I just want everything to be like it was."
  • “Shit! (Can’t get a hold of wife, breaks cell phone on the pavement).”

Marek (Frain): Ringleader of this informal crime syndicate. He’s all of 5’8” and about 150 pounds. Looks like an emaciated Mel Gibson.

  • “There going camping in the middle of nowhere, alone.”
  • “I am not going to lose…not to this guy.”
  • “You two done fucking around. I suggest we go get our money.”
  • "Leave the gun in the car.”
  • “Why did you leave him in the middle of nowhere?”

Losada (Perrineau): I get the feeling that his charactor’s real name is not ‘Losada’. You may remember the actor as Micheal Dawson from Lost. You know, the guy that sold everyone out—just to save his son…yeah, he’s in here.

  • “Will she a least shut up while your dick is in her mouth.”
  • “We got to get across the Gulf tonight.”

Final Words

I cannot, in good conscience, recommend you see this movie. I found it entertaining, like that last RAMBO film. Dumb as hell, yet captivating.

Rent it when you have nothing better to do. For example, if your apartment is getting fumigated. Watch this movie, instead of sitting in your apartment—while it's being fumigated.

Final Verdict: 75 out 100
