The Plot The film is about a national gospel choir competion. The focus is more on the journey, not the competion itself. Vi Rose Hill (Choir Director)-Queen Latifah |
Bernard Sparrow (Kristoferson), the original choir director. Was married to G.G. Sparrow (Parton). Bernard dies early in the film. Randy Sparrow (Jordan), the new kid on the block, is living with G.G.; he is her nephew. |
I Beg Your Parton
Everyday, Dolly Parton looks more and more like Steve Tyler. Quotes "Sooner or later...you're going to have to grow a set." "Tryin’ to fool me is like trying to sneak sunrise past a rooster." "If quit now, than you're quitting on God." |
Pastor Dale (Vance), played by the guy from LAW AND ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT. No, not Goren or Ames: he is the sensible Assistant D.A., who doesn't like your ideas, regardless of what they are. In this movie, you could swear he is playing the same character. |
Olivia and Randy Sitting in a Tree |
Randy Garrity is Boning dating Vi’s daughter. Teaches Walter to play piano. Walter does look pretty sharp with the 'Usher' sunglasses. |
"That sounds like rock and or roll." |
Walter (Darden) is a happy kid, obsessed with 1-hit wonders, except Queen Latifah. "He (God) made me this way." This is bordering on ridiculous. Up to this point, you think Walter is just a high-functioning, autistic kid. Everyone, (except Sean Penn), knows that you never go 'full on retard' in a movie. |
"Mama, I'll see you again tonight in my head movies. But this head movies m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-makes my eyes rain. -TROPIC THUNDER(2008) |
"It’s too expensive and we always lose." |
What if I told you that… |
There is something I have to say, and it's not easy. Please don't send me any hate mail.

Nationals take place in Hollywood: that's the conclusion...and they don't win.
Boring, predictable, unoriginal, directionless, genuinely offensive, and lacking in entertainment value. Comparatively speaking, it makes Tyler Perry look like a genius. I would like to create a time machine, just to avoid every seeing this film.
Final Verdict: 10 out of 100
